In this ordeal, international solidarity is being demonstrated, notably through the intervention of French forces stationed in the country, who have mobilised to provide crucial support.
Triggered suddenly after a spell of heavy rain, the floods submerged streets, houses and agricultural areas, leaving many residents homeless and seeking shelter. Infrastructure, already fragile, was hit hard, exacerbating the challenges the country faces in overcoming this crisis.
Faced with the scale of the disaster, the French forces based in Djibouti (FFDJ) reacted quickly, deploying their personnel and resources to assist in rescue operations. These efforts include the evacuation of the hardest-hit areas and the provision of emergency medical care.
The Prime Minister of Djibouti has issued a call for caution, stressing the gravity of the situation and the need for all citizens and residents to follow the authorities' guidelines to ensure their safety and facilitate relief efforts.
