Our foreign policy has broken with its Gaullist tradition of independence, respect and the enforcement of international law, of mediation between cultures, between North and South, to return to that of a middle-ranking European power aligned within a bloc. Its voice is no longer awaited nor heard in the major affairs of the world.
What is happening in Gaza with the support or passivity of a majority of the French political class is revealing of a deeper and more longstanding malaise, that of the various foreign influences exerted on France and a renunciation of upholding its foundational values. Secularism is now nothing more than a hollow slogan. It is supremely necessary to reiterate that all religions are respectable and must remain within the private sphere.
Social cohesion is nothing more than a distant memory, as the June 2023 riots demonstrated. Those to come will show it even more, since no lessons have been learned. Social integration has completely disappeared.
The spirit of the institutions has been ignored, the President is no longer «the man in charge of the essentials» but one who rules according to his own whim. Emmanuel Macron was wrong to run the country for two years, without a majority, through backroom deals. He bears a heavy responsibility for the current crisis.
I am convinced that «France cannot be France without greatness». I have a certain idea of France, but also a certain idea of man that excludes and fights against all identity-based extremes and uninhibited racism. «France is rich in its diversity,» Jacques Chirac said in his final message to the French people. Dual nationals are often stigmatised even though they are naturally full citizens.
Committed to serving my country forever (Ministries of the Interior and Defence, advisor to Alain Juppé and Jean-Pierre Raffarin, project manager at the Presidency of the Republic), I have decided to make my voice heard, in accordance with my Gaullist and Chiracian commitment, during this parliamentary election. I will be a candidate in the 9th constituency for French residents abroad, of which I am a native. I was born and raised in Tunisia, and I completed all my schooling within the French education system abroad.
My roots are in this part of the world where France has lost its assets to become, depending on the case, an ordinary, suspected, rejected or sometimes even hated country. A paternalistic, hazardous and visionless policy as well as unworthy behaviour are responsible for this. All of this naturally has a direct impact on French people settled in this area. Being the national of a loved and admired country makes life easier. Such is no longer the case today.
