At the initiative of the’French University of Egypt (Union des Français de l’Etranger, Maddevie Tropee President, Régine Guillermin Prato Vice-President and UFE World Board Member) and with the support of Franco-Egyptian Chamber of Commerce (Karim Wissa, Director of the Franco-Egyptian Chamber of Commerce) a first humanitarian convoy of food products, intended for the population of Gaza, left on 21 December and a second on 4 January.
2028 cartons of tinned food, 250,000 portions of cheese, and cash donations of up to 250,000 Egyptian pounds. The EGYPTIAN RED RED CRESCENT is a partner in this operation. It is ensuring coordination with the Egyptian authorities and will make the journey to Rafah to hand over the convoy to Palestine Red Crescent.
The donors are members of the French community (both individually and collectively through French schools and businesses).
Within this collective framework, numerous Egyptians (students and company staff members) made an impressive contribution and significant participation (Bel, CRÉDIT AGRICOLE, AGS, VINCI, COLAS RAIL, SOS Chrétiens d’orient, Schools of Hurgada/Sharm, primary schools of Maadi/Zamalek/New Cairo/De la Salle/French high schools of Cairo, Albert Camus, Simone de Beauvoir, Irish school, ...)
During this collection, RED CRESCENT interventions were organised in schools on the themes of sharing, solidarity, and neutrality. The pupils responded in large numbers and with enthusiasm to this awareness-raising.
Other schools witnessed the work of the RC volunteers (sorting, packaging, loading, etc.)
This convoy is a living testament to Franco-Egyptian solidarity in the face of the suffering of the most vulnerable at Egypt's doorstep.
