Anthony Borré, the real Mayor of Nice during the previous term of office

A former Category B civil servant at the Ministry of Finance, Anthony Borré’s career was to experience a spectacular boom when Christian Estrosi was appointed Minister of Industry (June 2009 – November 2010). He then became his deputy chief of staff, marking the beginning of an unstoppable career... and financial ascent.

Indeed, the allowances of 1^er Being a deputy mayor of Nice and Vice-President of the Nice Metropolis does not seem to be enough for the person in question. A solution is quickly found by Renaud Muselier and Christian Estrosi, the former having succeeded the latter as head of the region (with Estrosi remaining Deputy President of the PACA Region). Indeed, Anthony Borré is to be entrusted with the role of advisor in charge of regional decentralisation and foresight in Renaud Muselier's cabinet, whilst remaining first deputy mayor of Nice, vice-president of the Nice metropolis and president of the social housing provider Côte d'Azur Habitat. What talent! And above all, what a sense of ubiquity! The person concerned holds three extremely demanding roles in two cities at the same time. Above all, he accumulates a salary and elected officials' allowances. Not to mention the fact that Mr Borré is a lawyer at the Nice bar...

But that is not all. Anthony Borré’s wife has not been forgotten by our Macronist barons. Véronique Borrée is Deputy Managing Director of the City of Nice (of which her husband is the 1st^er deputy, let's move on...) in charge of security, proximity and citizenship (organisation chart dated June 2025).

All with a rather substantial remuneration which is, however, falling notably in 2024.

Yes, but Véronique Borré has also been Vice-President of the PACA Region since June 2021, in charge of «Security, Defence, support for law enforcement agencies and innovation in the service of a peaceful region». Like her husband, her talent and sense of ubiquity seem endless! Who pays for the travel between Nice and Marseille? How is it physically possible to perform both of these roles at the same time?

The record of the Borré couple did not seem up to scratch for the people of Nice, who handed out a severe electoral drubbing to the part-time Mayor, Christian Estrosi. In reality, it was Anthony Borré’s record that was swept aside. The former Category B civil servant who envisioned himself succeeding Estrosi one day has been brought crashing down to the sad reality.

An appeal to the taxpayer?

Anthony Borré is now just a municipal councillor. Renaud Muselier, make an effort to compensate for this substantial drop in allowances? Will the Borré couple be able to survive on less than 20-25,000 a month? The taxpayer of the South Region certainly agrees to come to the rescue of these needy people with extraordinary talent, but whose worth is not properly recognised...
