The Republic of Djibouti announced, in a press release from the Presidency of the Republic, the candidacy of its Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, for the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
The Presidency expresses its faith in the ability of Mr Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, »a man of experience and seasoned diplomat, familiar with the inner workings of the Continental Organisation, to serve and breathe new life into the pan-African Organisation».
«With over two decades of experience as Minister for Foreign Affairs of his country, a haven of peace renowned for its constant pursuit of conflict resolution through dialogue and negotiation, Mr Mahmoud Ali Youssouf possesses all the assets to meet the expectations and interests of the continent. He speaks fluent French, English and Arabic,» states the same press release.
