It is difficult to see clearly in the political strategy of Laurent Wauquiez, who has been experiencing a series of setbacks since returning to the National Assembly. After having tried – with more or less success – to block the way of several LR MPs hoping to enter Michel Barnier’s government, Laurent Wauquiez has angered even right-wing circles by announcing that he had reached a compromise to «save the pensions» in January next year. He does not forget, however, the party, now without a leader, which he could aim for the presidency in the coming months. He has been traveling to the federations for several weeks to gauge the mood.
