In a document dated January 31st issued by the Malian Primature (more specifically the «High Authority for Communications») and which geopolitics.fr was able to consult, France 2 is now banned from all packages of distributors of audio or television broadcasting services authorized in Mali for a period of 4 months.

The reason justifying this sanction is the broadcast on January 20 of a report on the security situation in Mali after the departure of the Barkhane Force under the title of «decryption». The information provided is considered partial, as an attempt to «demoralize» the troops and the population. «Serious breaches of ethics and conduct» are mentioned in this document. There is even a denunciation of terrorism apologia, which would consist in highlighting the firepower of the Armed Terrorist Groups compared to the FAMa. It is also reproached to France 2 for not giving the Malian authorities a chance to speak. The escalation thus continues between the French and Malian executive branches.
